Recently Mozilla officially released Firefox 8 (Stable), Canonical uploaded the final bits of the Mozilla Firefox 8.0 web browser on the official software repositories for the Ubuntu 11.10 Oneiric Ocelot. All Ubuntu 11.10 users can now upgrade their default web browser to Firefox 8.0.
Mozilla Firefox 8.0 brings features such as integrated Twitter search window, improved Tab moving (greatly improving start-up time), an one-time add-on selection dialog to easily manage your installed extensions, HTML5 context menus support, better memory performance, insertAdjacentHTML support, better CSS hyphen support, better WebSocket support and CORS support, etc.
After the installation third party add-ons disabled by default. Therefore, you’ll have to manually enable all the add-ons you want to use.

Install Firefox 8 in Ubuntu 11.10 Oneiric Ocelot and 11.04 Natty Narwhal Using PPA
Run following commands in the terminal window (Applications -> Accessories -> Terminal)
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:mozillateam/firefox-stable
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install firefox
